Biography

Goiânia, Goiás Heavy Metal band HEAVEN'S GUARDIAN was founded in 1997 by singer Carlos Gustavo Alves Zema, guitarists Ericsson Marin and Luis Maurício, bass player Murilo Lourenço Rassi and Alexandre "Kão" on the drums. For the early 1999 demo sessions 'Roll Of Thunder', cut at Up Music in Goiânia, Bernardo Borguetti would supply bass for the title track and 'The Angel Of The Lost Star'. Additional keyboards came courtesy of Everton Santana Marin.

HEAVEN'S GUARDIAN contracted with Megahard Records for the 2001 album 'Strava', crafted with producer James Di Castro at Zen Studios. Bernardo Borguetti supplied all studio bass except on the songs 'Enough' and 'Peace Keeper', which saw Murilo Lourenço Rassi handling four string duties. Everton Santana Marin supplied keyboards once again with DARK AVENGER's Mário Linhares providing backing vocals on 'Raising' whilst Jean Carlos and Daniel Hellegy gave backing vocals on 'Freedom'.

The band donated their version of 'Uncertainty' to the Steelborn Records collated STRATOVARIUS tribute album in 2004, entitled 'Within Infinity - Tribute to Stratovarius'. Megahard Records issued the 'D.O.L.L.' album, produced by Paulo Anhaia at Up Music in Goiânia, in April 2004. Backing vocals in the studio came courtesy of Mário Augusto, Leonardo Teixeira, Flávio Mendez, Carlos Zema, Marcelo Zema and Ericsson Marin.

Carlos Gustavo Alves Zema would forge VOUGAN before journeying to the USA in 2006 to join OUTWORLD, COLDERA and the DAVID SHANKLE GROUP. Mario Linhares, of DARK AVENGER, KHALLICE and HARLLEQUIN, acted as replacement. The band also drafted a fresh rhythm section involving bassist Jorge Sampaio and drummer Paulo Martins.

A DVD, 'X Years On The Road', arrived in 2007.
