The Black / Death Metal styled SYMPATHY is a one-man project of the Caronport, Saskatchewan based Dharok (a.k.a. Derek James), active as SYMPATHY since 1990. An initial set of musicians would depart to leave Dharok as a solo artist and in this guise SYMPATHY released the demo sessions 'Arrogance And Ignorance' in 1993, 'Age Of Darkness' in 1995 and 'Realms Of Chaos' in 1996. In 2001 SYMPATHY signed with the Dutch label Fear Dark for the 'Invocation' album, recording at Port Trax Studios.

Tim Roth and Rob Doherty of INTO ETERNITY guested on the February 2004 follow up 'Arcane Path'. SYMPATHY relocated to Toronto, Ontario later that same year. The Monumentum Scandinavia label put out the August 2005 EP, 'Abyssal Throne', limiting this release to 850 copies.
