Biography

WOODS OF YPRES, founded in Windsor, Ontario during 2002, recorded a cover of BATHORY's 'Lake Of Fire' for a tribute album entitled 'A Tribute From The Hordes To Bathory' released by Black Goat Productions. Frontman David Gold is also active with WILL OF THE ANCIENTS.

A debut demo 2002 release, 'Against The Seasons: Cold Winter Songs From The Dead Summer Heat', was recorded at Spectre Sound Studios and featured vocalist / guitarist Brian Mcmanus and bassist Aaron Palmer. Subsequently Steve Jones joined on guitar whilst Connor Sharpe, a veteran of NORTH and ARCHEON, took over bass. The group suffered a mass defection of members in the midst of recording the 2004 album 'Pursuit Of the Sun And Allure Of The Earth' for Krankenhaus Records, leaving only David Gold and keyboard player Jessica Rose remaining.

WOODS OF YPRES had their track 'The Allure Of The Earth' included on a 2006 Cyclone Records compilation album, issued only in Japan "as a free gift from the Canadian Metal scene".

Krankenhaus Records issued third album set 'Woods III: The Deepest Roots And Darkest Blues' on 1st January 2008. The compilation 'Independent Nature 2002-2007' was serviced exclusively to "Supporter Circle" members in April 2009. That September a limited edition of 500 autographed and hand numbered 7" singles, entitled 'Allure Of The Earth', saw release.
