Biography

STREETHEART was a high ranking and influential force on the Canadian Rock scene. Both vocalist Kenny Shields and keyboard player Daryl Guthiel were members of WASCANA. With the recruitment into that band of bassist Ken 'Spider' Sinneave WASCANA adopted the new title of WITNESS. This band folded with Deutscher forming CROWCUS and Shields, Sinneave and Guthiel uniting with guitarist PAUL DEAN and drummer Matt Frenette to found STREETHEART.

The band's debut soon surpassed the 100'000 sales mark in Canada. A split in the ranks saw Dean and Frenette opting out to found the multi-platinum act LOVERBOY. STREETHEART added former PAINTER drummer Herb Ego and guitarist John Hannah for the 'Under Heaven Over Hell' album produced by NAZARETH's guitarist MANNY CHARLTON. Ex-H.U.N.N. and SHAMA guitarist Jeff Neill took Hannah's place for 1981's 'Drugstore Dancer'.

Promoting their eponymous fourth album STREETHEART toured Canada in 1982 sharing a bill with ALDO NOVA. Sinneave featured on the 1986 single release by LAWSUIT. FREHLEY'S COMET covered 'Dancing With Danger' on their 1988 'Second Sighting' album.

STREETHEART pulled together again in 1996 in their original line up for dates in Canada with LOVERBOY, Dean and Frenette doubling up duties onstage. Sinneave featured in the RED RIDER line-up for a one off live reunion gig in Ottawa during March of 2002.
