Biography

A notorious Death Metal act from Chile led by Anton Reisenegger, renowned for his exploits with PENTAGRAM. The band was formulated during 1991 in Santiago and, following a brace of 1992 demo tapes 'Criminal' and 'Forked', made an immediate impact with their 1994 inauguration 'Victimized', released by major label BMG in both South America and Japan. The band's second outing 'Dead Souls', produced by Vincent Wojno, has shifted over 10'000 copies in Chile alone.

During January of 2002 both vocalist / guitarist Anton Reisenegger and lead guitarist Rodrigo Contreras relocated to England in an effort to reach a larger international audience. A new look CRIMINAL was formulated bringing in erstwhile CRADLE OF FILTH man Robin 'Graves' Eaglestone on bass, EXTREME NOIZE TERROR and FAILED HUMANITY drummer Zac O'Neil and keyboard player Mark Royce, a veteran of both ENTWINED and PRIMARY SLAVE. Meantime, ex-CRIMINAL bassist Juan Francisco Cueto joined veteran Chilean act DORSO.

The band would act as special guests to renowned and recently reformed Swedish Doomsters CANDLEMASS and Martin Walkyier's RETURN TO THE SABBAT for their performance at the London Mean Fiddler venue in mid July. Further live action ensued at the German 'Wacken Open Air' and 'Summer Breeze' festivals as CRIMINAL touted a three track demo to labels. The band put in a short burst of UK shows during November packaged with DARKANE and DESCENT.

Robin Eaglestone left the band in March of 2003. Undaunted, CRIMINAL cut a new album 'No Gods No Masters' at Springvale Studios in Suffolk during October. Pulling in bass player Staff Glover, the group teamed up with label mates SIX FEET UNDER and FLESHCRAWL for a two-week European tour throughout February and March of 2004. Chilean dates in May would be marred by the dissapearance of keyboard player Mark Royce just two days before the concerts. Naturally, Royce was duly ejected from the band.

Confusion arose that Summer when fabled 'Mexican' Death Metal band BRUJERIA announced Brazilian gigs with CRIMINAL as support. However, it would soon be learned that this an act having no ties to the Chilean combo. In August CRIMINAL announced the recruitment of bassist Aldo Celle, hailing from from Viña del Mar in Chile. The new line-up debuted on 20th August at the 'Summer Breeze' festival in Abtsgmünd, Germany. However, original bassist Juan "Kato" Cueto returned to the fold in early 2005.

In early 2006 Mark Royce launched a new band venture dubbed COLD LAZARUS. Another erstwhile band member, bassist Robin Eaglestone, teamed up with Norwegian band GRIMFIST for European touring. Meantime, CRIMINAL re-inducted bassist Staff Glover.
