INNER FEAR came together in early 1997, recording the inaugural demo 'Delusive Eyes' that same year. Although acknowledged to suffer from poor sound quality the tape nonetheless made a healthy impression upon the Czech Rock media. This first version of the band, vocalist Khaablus, guitarists Kharel and Phobos with Marthus (a.k.a. Martin Škaroupka) on drums and keyboards and The Witch on live keyboards, undertook live work that saw ROOT's Igor Hubík employed on bass guitar. Unfortunately INNER FEAR soon splintered with founder member Marthus subsequently uniting with a variety of acts including MONASTERY, HAPPY DEATH, ENTRAILS and BIG BOSS.

Marthus resurrected INNER FEAR in mid 1999 for a comeback demo 'The Face Of Inner Apocalypsa'. For these sessions the new look band saw Marthus handling keyboards and drums, lead vocalist Khaablus, guitarist Khopec and assorted session players. A follow up album, 'Akhu', was laid down in 2000. For this effort Marthus added bass guitar to his duties although Paraghus would be added to the band unit to fulfil that role shortly after. INNER FEAR was put on hold for a short spell as Marthus joined premier Czech Death Metal act PANDEMIA as drummer for European tour work.

The band, having inducted female lead vocalist Anghellina and second guitarist Slavus, got back into gear during 2001. The first fruits of this union would be borne in June with the release of the demo 'The Odeum Of Silence'. Signing to Copromesis Records INNER FEAR issued the 'Thanalogy' album in 2002. That March INNER FEAR witnessed further line up changes as Roberto replaced Slavus.

INNER FEAR had once again morphed though as Khaablus decamped in March. As such Angehellina handled all vocals on the 'Symbiotry - Dark Cyber Orchestra' album recorded for Élysion Music. Once recording was complete Paraghus bowed out and former member Slavus made a return. Marthus relocated to Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, joining former VENOM guitarist Mantas' band MANTAS. He also sessioned for SYMPHONITY. In November 2006 Martin Škaroupka stepped up into the international league when he was announced as new drummer for CRADLE OF FILTH.
