Biography

The short-lived DEMOLITION 23 enjoyed a high profile on the Sleaze Rock scene due to vocalist MICHAEL MONROE, guitarist Nasty Suicide and bass player Sam Yaffa all being ex-HANOI ROCKS members. DEMOLITION 23 was formed following the collapse of MICHAEL MONROE's previous outfit JERUSALEM SLIM, which had featured BILLY IDOL guitarist Steve Stevens.

Initially formed as a covers live band with STAR STAR guitarist Jay Henning, DEMOLITION 23 played numerous New York shows in 1993 with accomplished New York session player Jimmy Clark, previously a member of MESSANO, filling the drum stool. The shows were noted for their numerous guest appearances by such illustrious industry friends as SKID ROW's Sebastian Bach and WARRIOR SOUL's Kory Clarke.

Henning was forced out of the band following an accident when he was run down by a car and hospitalised. Upon his recovery, the guitarist was refused entry into Britain for live shows and Nasty Suicide was quickly pulled in to fulfill obligations. The erstwhile HANOI ROCKS triumvirate gelled again and Suicide's stay was made permanent.

DEMOLITION 23's eponymously titled album was produced by LITTLE STEVEN VAN ZANDT and proved to be a welcome return to form for the ex-HANOI ROCKS members. Monroe later went back to his solo career prior to re-forging HANOI ROCKS.

In 2005 bassist Sami Yaffa teamed up with the legendary NEW YORK DOLLS and also joined up with all-star trio TODD YOUTH'S HEARTACHES, fronted by Todd Youth of MURPHY'S LAW, D-GENERATION, DANZIG, WARZONE, AGNOSTIC FRONT, SAMHAIN, CHROME LOCUST and THE CHELSEA SMILES repute on vocals and guitar with GLUECIFER drummer Danny Young.
