Biography

TWILIGHTNING is an Imatra based Power Metal dating to 1998. The first formation comprised vocalist / guitarist Tommi Sartanen, guitarist Ville Wallenius, bassist Jussi Kainulainen and Juha Leskinen on the drums, this unit cutting the band's first demo in February 1999. Shortly after Mikko Naukkarinen enrolled as keyboard player. A second demo, 'Affection Seeker', arrived in April 2000. TWILIGHTNING expanded their membership by drafting HOMER man Heikki Pöyhiä as vocalist for a third demo 'Return To Innocence'.

TWILIGHTNING signed to the Spinefarm label in November 2001 for a Anssi Kippo produced debut album. Released in 2003, 'Delirium Veil' would be mixed by STRATOVARIUS guitarist Timo Tolkki. A second album, entitled 'Plague-House Puppet Show', saw issue in September of 2004. It would be preceded by a single 'Into Treason', featuring a cover of ALICE COOPER's 'Wind-Up Toy' and the Japanese bonus cut 'Affection Seeker'. The single entered the Finnish charts at number 5.

An initial round of live dates witnessed valuable high profile gigs supporting NIGHTWISH. However, guitarist Tommi Sartanen was forced to sit these shows out, having suffered a dislocated shoulder. Toni Tossavainen from FROZEN PARADISE acted as substitute. In November Heikki Pöyhiä featured as backing vocalist for LULLACRY's 'Stranger In You' single. The singer also contributed backing vocals to further LULLACRY album recordings in early 2005.

TWILIGHTNING parted ways with keyboard player Mikko Naukkarinen in January 2006. That November the group entered Astia Studio in Lappeenranta to cut drum tracks for their third album. A second session took place with producer Miitri Aaltonen at Music-Bros. studio in Imatra. 'Swinelords' emerged in March 2007, hitting number 39 on the Finnish charts.
