The corpse paint bedecked TROLLHEIM'S GROTT deliver raging speed Metal but are reluctant to apply the term Black Metal to their brand of music. Although bearing a Swedish title, TROLLHEIM'S GROTT emanate from the Finnish town of Kuopio. The band was conceived by vocalist Spellgoth, along with his drumming brother T. Nattefrost (later titled Troll N.), during 1997. The band became a trio with the addition of A. Hellwitch in time for an eponynous 1998 demo. Goreblast would take on bass duties for a self-financed live album simply billed as 'Live 1999'.

TROLLHEIM'S GROTT would subsequently draft Trist of MINOAN in on bass and manoevered Goreblast over to second guitar. Hellwitch bailed out in 2000 and was replaced by H.G.G. Void for the summer 2000 demo 'Kalt, Trist, Sorg Och Dod'. Further shuffles found Goreblast back to his original four-string ranking and Trist elevated to guitarist. Shortly after this shuffle, Goreblast too decamped. With the band scoring a deal with the Woodcut label Trolldom was inducted as temporary session guitarist. Yet more ructions witnessed the departure of Void as TROLLHEIM'S GROTT brought in Ruho from FUNERIS NOCTURNUM to act as keyboard player. Thereafter, Korpse of DEATHCHAIN, DE LIRIUM'S ORDER and WINTERWOLF assumed the bass mantle. Drummer Troll N. would also be operational alongside Korpse as a member of Thrash Metal band DEATHCHAIN. Korpse also sessioned lead vocals on TWISTED SILENCE's 2002 demos and joined DEMILICH in 2005.

Mikko Kotamäki of TROLLHEIM'S GOTT also cites credits with FUNERIS NOCTURNUM, EMPYREAN BANE, ENTER MY SILENCE and SWALLOW THE SUN. The band also has ties to BLACK DEATH RITUAL. Spellgoth also fronts Industrial Metal act TURMION KÄTILȪT.
