Biography

MYSTIC PROPHECY, a US German Power Metal band founded in Bad Grönenbach, Bavaria during 2000, boast a pedigree line-up with two VALLEY'S EVE members in vocalist Roberto Dimitri Liapakis and bassist Martin Albrecht, DREAM EVIL and NIGHTRAGE guitarist Gus G. (a.k.a. Kostas Karamitroudis) and RAISE HELL drummer Dennis Ekdahl. Albrecht was also a member of cult Metal veterans STORMWITCH. During 1999 Dimitris Liapakis had acted as guest session singer for SARISSA's appearance at the Athens 'Power Metal' festival. The Greek born Gus G., besides holding down membership of the Swedish based DREAM EVIL and having his own solo venture FIREWIND, would contribute guest lead guitar solos to the 2002 OLD MAN'S CHILD album.

Released in August 2001, the debut MYSTIC PROPHECY album 'Vengeance' was tracked at Prophecy and Music Factory studios for the Nuclear Blast label.

North American variants of the June 2003 'Regressus' album added two bonus cuts in cover versions of IRON MAIDEN's 'Sanctuary' and MANOWAR's 'Fighting The World'. An extensive run of European shows in November caught the band packaged with DISBELIEF, DARKANE, MNEMIC and headliners DEATH ANGEL.

MYSTIC PROPHECY issued the 'Never-Ending' album, promoted by an Ioannis Nikolaidis directed video to the track 'Burning Bridges', in October of 2004 again through Nuclear Blast Records. The band held a launch party gig at the Texas Club in Athens, Greece on 23rd October. The group would re-shape in early 2005, Liapakis, Albrecht and Gus G. announcing the addition of the PRIMAL FEAR and MY DARKEST HATE credited drummer Klaus Sperling and VALLEY'S EVE and SYMPHORCE guitarist Markus Pohl to the group's ranks in February. This new look band debuted on the live front supporting FREEDOM CALL in March and signed a new label deal with Massacre Records in June.

Gus G. joined ARCH ENEMY in mid 2005 as the group's touring guitarist after regulat six-stringer Christoper Amott bowed out of that band in order to "fully concentrate on his studies".

MYSTIC PROPHECY's February 2006 album, 'Savage Souls', novelly came with two CD digipack format featuring a second disc comprising a live recording of the entire album. This new outing saw the inclusion of guitarist Martin Grimm, from HEADSTONE EPITAPH, as replacement for Gus G. The band partnered with MAJESTY for European touring in April and May. A limited edition, gatefold vinyl version of 'Savage Souls', restricted to 666 copies, saw issue through Metal Axe Records.

MYSTIC PROPHECY commenced tracking of of new album material in February 2007. 'Satanic Curses' was released on 19th October via Armageddon Music. A single, entitled 'Dark Forces', preceded the album in August. Both guitarist Martin Grimm and bassist Martin Albrecht left MYSTIC PROPHECY in July 2008. Replacements were found in guitarist Constantine, of NIGHTRAGE and DESCENDING, and, that October, bassist Connie Andreszka, a veteran of TITANYA, BOWTOME, CIRCLE OF PAIN, EVIDENCE ONE and SPELLSINGER.

The band returned in May 2009 with the album 'Fireangel'. Rumours in early August suggested that Gus G was to perform as OZZY OSBOURNE's new guitarist at the Blizzard Entertainment 'BlizzCon' convention that month in Anaheim, California. This speculation was confirmed on 21st August.
