Biography

Death Metal act FALL OF SERENITY evolved from a prior act entitled CONTRITION in 1998, the band at this stage numbering singer Lars, guitarists Alex Fischer and Eddy Langner, bassist Andreas Ferge and drummer Ulli Walther. The band's first release would be the 1999 'Smoldering Doom' opus, restricted to just 500 copies with 100 of these being pressed on grey marbled vinyl. That same year further tracks were laid down for a split album shared with HEAVEN SHALL BURN. For these sessions René Betzold was drafted on backing vocals, this providing the catalyst for the band to employ both René and Lars for dual lead vocals.

Eager to capture their new line up on tape FALL OF SERENITY went back into the studio to cut the demo billed as 'Demonstration Tracks 2000'. However, Andreas made an exit upon completion of these tracks. John Gahlert of OBSCURATION, a side project which also included René, Alex and Eddy alongside IMPENDING DOOM's Patrick W.Engel on drums, soon substituted. FALL OF SERENITY signed to the Voice Of Life label for debut album 'Grey Man´s Requiem'. The record, produced by Patrick W.Engel, closed out with cover versions of DISMEMBER's 'Casket Garden' and BLACK SABBATH's 'Electric Funeral'. Lars made a break from the band in 2002.

FALL OF SERENITY bassist John also acts as frontman for Deathcore band SOULGATE'S DAWN. The band drafted new drummer Nick Putzmann for recording of 2004's 'Royal Killing' album. Signing to Lifeforce Records the band issued the 'Bloodred Salvation' album, recorded at Rape Of Harmonies Studios by Ralf Müller and Patrick W. Engel, in 2006, this set featuring a guest appearance by Leif Jensen of DEW-SCENTED. The band hooked up with HATE ETERNAL, SPAWN OF POSSESSION and SHADOWSLAND for European touring in May covering the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Holland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Belgium.

FALL OF SERENITY parted ways with singer René Betzold in late September, switching bassist John Gahlert over to the lead vocal role whilst new member Simon Brach took over on bass.
