From humble beginnings in the university town of Göttingen during 1994 the Sandra Nasić led GUANO APES ('guano' is animal faeces) have risen to become one of the very biggest Alt-Rock bands in Europe, dominating the German charts and selling over a million and a half copies of the 1997 debut album 'Proud Like A God'. The band started as an all male trio but with the arrival of Nasić conquered the 1996 German 'Battle Of the Bands' competition, winning out from over a thousand other bands. Although the 1998 album only entered the German album charts at no. 66 upon its release it would steadily rise into the upper rankings.

The 2003 album 'Walking On A Thin Line' confirmed the band's status by entering the German charts at no. 1 and charting across Europe. A limited edition linen packaged 'book' edition came with a bonus CD of previously unreleased tracks. A double compilation entitled 'Planet Of The Apes' emerged in November of 2004. The band shocked fans by announcing that their 2005 tour was to be a farewell and the band was to fold.

Word arrived in June that drummer Dennis Poschwatta had activated a new project billed TAMATO, with album recordings featuring contributions from ex-GUANO APES colleagues guitarist Henning Ruemenapp and bassist Stefan Ude.

Former GUANO APES frontwoman SANDRA NASIC contracted a solo deal with G.U.N. Records in January 2006.
