Biography

SCHATTENTANTZ is a 'Mittelalter' Metal band founded during 1999 and employing such traditional instrumentation as dudelsäcken, drehleier, cello, flute, Schalmei and bouzouki. Originally the group was fronted by ex-G-FLAT man Aaron Awerkin. SCHATTENTANTZ drummer Frederik Ehmke would also operate with PINK FLOYD covers band INTERSTELLAR OVERDIVE. Compilation appearances included the inclusion of the track 'Ein Blatt im Wind' on the 2002 'Rock Hard' magazine cover mount 'Unerhört Vol. 10', 'Die Hexe' on 'In Flammare Vol. 1', 'Ein Blatt im Wind' on 'Miroque Vol. 8' and 'Cernunnos' all in 2003 and the song 'Ouwe' on 2004's 'Zu Hofe des Mittelalters Vol. 2'.

The band added new singer Christoph Heyd, replacing Aaron Awerkin, in early 2005. Ehmke took a step up into the big league by joining leading German Heavy Metal band BLIND GUARDIAN in July 2005.
