Biography

The origins of VORPHALACK can be traced back as far as 1988 and the band PSYCHIC CRUSH, this unit comprising Funeral (a.k.a. George Arvanitakis - later Lord Alatoth) on lead vocals, guitarist Peter, bassist Loukas and Rotting Soul on drums. This band released a brace of demos, in 1990 and 1992, after which Peter and Loukas made their departure. That November, deciding upon a more sinister musical path the group re-titled itself VORPHALACK and brought itself up to strength with the incorporation of guitarist / keyboard player Than and Alex on bass. A demo, 'Obsessed', scored a deal with the Molon Lave label for inclusion on the compilation album 'Metal Under Greece' and a 7" single, this emerging as the cult EP release 'Under The Sight Of Dragon' in March of 1993.

During 1994 Lord Alatoth established side project NAR MATARON, releasing the demos 'Tales Of The 12 Gods' and 'Awakening Of The Ancient Greece'.

By 1995 VORPHALACK had reformulated its line up, the roster on the demo 'Black Sorrow For A Dead Brother' now counting vocalist Lord Alatoth, guitarist Lady Lilith, bass player Count Samas and drummer Emperor Palmist. However, Count Haridou would usurp the guitar position as the band opted to switch title to STONED FOREST. Within two months the group had reverted back to VORPHALACK and marked this step by issuing four tracks as part of a split album shared with ZEPHYROUS released through Melancholy Promotions. Altering the membership once again by drawing in WAMPYRINACHT and GOATHRONE's Necrolord alongside Mantus, VORPHALACK put out the EP 'In Memory...', dedicated to famous Satanist Anton S.Lavey. Featured guest vocalist included Lucifer's Child from WAMPYRINACHT and Ravenlord Wampyri Necrorium from EMPIRE OF THE MOON.

VORPHALACK's December 2001 album 'Lullabies Of A Vampire' marked the recording debut for new band members, guitarist Khal Drogo of prior NOCTERNITY repute and the KAWIR and CARPATHIAN LORDS credited bassist Ehetos. VORPHALACK plotted release of a 7" EP to be entitled 'Kneel And Hear The Music Of Satan' through Decapitated Records for 2002. Signing to Italian label Danza Hypnotica Recrods in 2003 VORPHALACK issued the single 'Daemonium Magisters', limited to 500 copies. Khal-Drogo then exited.
