Biography

Regarded fondly by a healthy majority of Metal fans as being at the forefront of eighties Dutch Metal, BODINE's original musical favoured a more Bluesier direction. The band had been formulated in Haag during 1976. The line-up for the band's first album, 'Bodine released in 1981 by the Rhinoceros subsidary of WEA imprint, comprised vocalist Jay Van Feggelen, guitarist Rheno Xeros, bassist Armand Van Der Hoff and drummer Gerard Hatsman.

Van Feggelen was replaced by Axel Joseph Langemeijir in 1983 and the band also added second guitarist Anthony Lucassen to the roster around the same period. With 'Mad Man Axel' fronting BODINE, the group significantly polished up their act, becoming increasingly heavier and recording the much admired 1982 'Bold As Brass' album, amidst rumours that they rehearsed such hard hitting material in a Nuclear fall out shelter

Curiously, when the Dutch outfit re-emerged with a third album, aptly titled 'Three Times Running' of 1983, bassist Armand Van Der Hoff had been replaced in favour of the strangely titled Jeronimo (a.k.a. Jeroen Bos) and the musical direction of the band had changed once more, BODINE going towards a significantly more commercial route.

Following the band's disappearance Arjen Lucasson joined fellow Dutch Metal act VENGEANCE and was also shortlisted for a position in ACCEPT before issuing a series of successful solo concept albums under the title AYREON. Jeronimo journeyed to North America to join ex-DOKKEN guitarist Greg Leon in his GREG LEON INVASION.

In 1996 the 'Bodine' and 'Three Times Running' albums have been re-issued on CD by Pseudonym Records, featuring a variety of previously unreleased tracks and, rather curiously, the bulk of 'Bold As Brass' as bonus tracks.
