In October 2005 former IMMORTAL frontman Abbath Doom Occulta (a.k.a. Olve Eikemo) joined forces with original IMMORTAL drummer Armagedda, ENSLAVED and MALIGNANT ETERNAL guitarist Arve Isdal, going by the name of Ice Dale, and GORGOROTH bassist King ov Hell (a.k.a. Tom Cato Visnes), as TC King, in a project simply entitled I. Former IMMORTAL guitarist Demonaz (Harald Nævdal) contributed lyrically. Although the musicians all held a strong tradition within the Black Metal scene I's debut was very much in the traditional Heavy Metal mould with subject matter in direct homage to cult Swedish act BATHORY.

King ov Hell also operated trad Doom band SAHG in alliance with the DET HEDENSKE FOLK, GORGOROTH and JOTUNSPOR credited drummer Kvitrafn (Einar Selvik), MANNGARD singer Olav Iversen and AUDREY HORNE guitar player Thomas Tofthagen.

I, announcing their live debut on August 26th at the 'Hole In The Sky' festival in Bergen, Norway, contracted with Nuclear Blast Records in April 2006. 'Between Two Worlds', recorded at Bergen's Lydriket Studio with Geir Luedy and mixed by HYPOCRISY mastermind Peter Tägtgren, was completed in August and released in November. The digipack version of 'Between Two Worlds' hosted three extra tracks, 'Bridges Of Fire', 'Shadowed Realms Intro' and 'Shadowed Realms'. Other variants inclided a limited edition metal box, restricted to 1000 copies, and a vinyl double album. 'Between Two Worlds' entered the national Norwegian charts at number 37. Working with director Tommy Næss the band filmed a promotional video for the track 'Cursed We Are'.

In April 2007 the PERFECT VISIONS project of IMMORTAL's Demonaz was unveiled. This unit also involved Ice Dale plus guest vocalist and lyricist Abbath.
