Portuguese avantgarde Metal act that first came together under the banner THANATOS in early 1998 with a band structure of vocalist TóMané, guitarist Guilhermino Martins, bass player Marco "China" and drummer Paulo Adelino. In this incarnation, with António Correia aiding on keyboards, the 'Melégnia' EP surfaced the following year. The band took on the revised title of THANATOSCHIZO to undertake the 2000 'Chaos And Disorder' tour packaged with HOLOCAUSTO CANIBAL and THE FIRSTBORN prior to recording a debut full-length album 'Schizo Level' in 2001, produced by TARANTULA drummer Luís Barros. The group had been completely reconstituted by this stage, inducting two new vocalists in Patrícia Rodrigues and Eduardo Paulo with Filipe Miguel newly installed on keyboards. Guilhermino Martins handled bass parts for these recordings. Nuno Pereira of HOLOCAUSTO CANIBAL donated a guest guitar solo to the track 'Withering Art'.

Second effort 'InsomniousNightLift', once again produced by Barros, emerged on the Portuguese Misdeed label in September 2002 and saw a wider European release in January of 2003 through the British Rage Of Achilles imprint. THANATSCHIZO had enrolled bassist Miguel Ángelo for these sessions.

The band, and attendent producer Luís Barros, would be back in the recording studio in November 2003 laying down a third album 'Turbulence'. THANATOSCHIZO contracted a deal with Australia's Pandemonium Records in March 2005. Further dealings saw signature with Mexican label Divenia Records for the release of their 2001 album 'Schizo Level' in North and Central America.

In March 2007 THANATOSCHIZO entered Rec'n'Roll Studios in Valadares, Porto with Luis Barros acting as producer once again to cut tracks for their fourth album. Guest appearances on the album included Tim Harris, of ESTRADASPHERE, and Svein Egil Hatlevik, of ZWEIZZ, FLEURETY and DØDHEIMSGARD.

HOLOCAUSTO CANIBAL and THANATOSCHIZO headlined the 'Metal Horror Picture Show' in June 2009, a festival dedicated to horror movies and extreme music held in Fundão.
