Death Metal act CROMLECH was was formed in late 1994 under the name DELIRIUM by guitarists Henrik Meijner and Jonas Eckerström, the latter also handling drum duties initially. Mattias Bäck joined as a drummer, after which bass player Anders Lundin and singer Fredrik Arnesson were enrolled as the CROMLECH title was adopted. A 1996 demo succeeded in gaining track inclusions on compilation albums issued through Black Mark Productions and Near Dark Productions.

During 1997 Meijner joined EUCHARIST whilst Arnesson joined the ranks of ABLAZE MY SORROW. Lundin followed suit in 1998. Early the next year CROMLECH rose up once again, recording a second set of demos. They would be then joined by EUCHARIST bassist Dick Löfgren, also holding ARCH ENEMY, LAST TRIBE, MESHUGGAH, TIME REQUIEM and IN FLAMES credentials. CROMLECH signed to Italian label Beyond Productions to release an EP entitled 'The Vulture Tones'.
