A melodic Death Metal act, founded in late 2005 by bassist Mikael Medin, and hailing from Gothenburg. MARIONETTE took their musical cue from Scandinavian Hardcore and the Japanese Kei movement. The band issued the EP 'Terror Hearts', produced by Christian Silver and Henryk Lipp with mixing conducted by Fredrik Nordström, in 2007. This release was used by the band as a tool to enter a series of band competitions, MARIONETTE winning the Göteborgstalangen and Centrumgbg's Metaltown contests, and advancing to the finals in the Scandinavian Emergenza, Musik Direkt, and Partillerocken competitions.

The group put in a live 2008 debut opening for Japanese act GIRUGAMESH in Stockholm of 31st January. MARIONETTE signed with French label Listenable Records in February for a debut album 'Spite' released that April. Tracks were recorded with producers Simon Exner and Åke Parmerud in Borås and then mixed by Christian Silver at StudioMega in Varberg. A promotional video for the song 'Burn Me' was directed by Robert Karlsson.

In October and November the band opened European dates as support to DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER.

MARIONETTE returned in October 2009 with second album 'Enemies'. This set was co-produced by Åke Parmerud and Pontus Hjelm then mixed by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman and mastered Peter In De Betou at Tailor Maid Production.
