CRYSTAL AGE, a Death Metal band, was forged in Gothenburg by ex-CEREMONIAL OATH vocalist / guitarist Oscar Dronjac and ex-LIERS IN WAIT men guitarist Moses Jonathon Elfström and drummer Hans Nilsson. A debut demo was recorded in January 1994. The group covered METALLICA's 'Damage Inc.' for the 1994 Black Sun Records tribute album 'Metal Militia', before unleashing their debut album the following year. Dronjac had also been a member of Black / Thrash act DESECRATOR, having released the 1989 demo cassette 'Wake The Dead' and a 1990, three song demo 'Black Sermons'.

Interestingly, a band created by Dronjac and bassist Frederick Larsson purely for fun in 1993 was later to overtake CRYSTAL AGE. The trad Metal renaissance band HAMMERFALL, which included Dronjac's erstwhile CEREMONIAL OATH colleague drummer Jesper Strömbold, also of IN FLAMES, as well as members of DARK TRANQUILLITY, exploded into the national German charts during 1997 with their debut album 'Glory To The Brave'.

Larsson relinquished his HAMMERFALL ties just prior to the band gaining prominence, joining Thrashers NONE. He later formulated DEATH DESTRUCTION with his erstwhile NONE colleague, and EVERGREY member, Henrik Danhage and would work with HAMMERFALL vocalist Joacim Cans on his CANS side project. In July 2006 Fredrik Larsson joined the ranks of EVERGREY. Larsson rejoined HAMMERFALL in April 2007.
