Highly regarded Progressive Metal band out of Helsingborg, EVERGREY, established during 1996, specialise in maudlin yet intricate works of weighty gravitas headed up by the rustic timbre of Thomas Englund. EVERGREY's 1998 album 'The Dark Discovery', released on the GNW (Gothenburg Noise Works) label, witnessed guest performances from KING DIAMOND's Andy LaRocque, also acting as producer, and FREAK KITCHEN's MATTIAS EKLUNDH. The recording band unit comprised singer Tom Englund, guitarist Dan Bronell, bassist Daniel Nöjd, keyboard player Will Chandra and drummer Patrick Carlsson.

EVERGREY switched to the Hall Of Sermon Gothic Rock specialists for May 1999's 'Solitude, Dominance, Tragedy' outing. The album release party was held in Bochum, Germany at a gig sharing billing with RAGE.

However, bass player Daniel Nöjd decamped and EVERGREY enlisted two new recruits, bassist Michael Håkansson and SOILWORK keyboard player Sven Karlsson, both erstwhile members of Black Metal band EMBRACED. Håkansson also divided his duties with THE FORSAKEN.

European dates saw the band opening proceedings at the German 'Bang Your Head' festival and touring alongside CRIMSON GLORY and KAMELOT. The band would also find studio time the same year to donate their rendition of 'Rising Force' to a YNGWIE MALMSTEEN tribute album.

Before the year was out guitarist Dan Bronelli made his exit too. The band endured by drafting Henrik Danhage. EVERGREY signed to the Inside Out Music label for release of a third album, the September 2001 alien abduction themed conceptual piece 'In Search For Truth'.

Keyboard player Sven Karlsson would be let go later in the year, his replacement being Chris Rehn. By 2002 EVERGREY had installed Rikard Zande in the keyboard role for recording of a new album, 'Recreation Day', with producer Andy LaRocque. Shortly after release of the record in March 2003 drummer Patrick Carlsson severed ties with the band, being superseded by Jonas Ekdahl. EVERGREY allied with HATE ETERNAL, ARCH ENEMY and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER for a short but intensive run of US dates coming in August.

EVERGREY undertook a short burst of Danish dates in March 2004 allied with MERCENARY. The band resumed road action, acting as opening band for ICED EARTH and CHILDREN OF BODOM North American Tour in April to promote 'The Inner Circle' album released by Inside Out Music.

Michael Håkansson, maintaining his commitment to EVERGREY, resurrected his former act EMBRACED in June of 2004. That Summer Tom S. Englund and Arnold Linberg acted as production team for the DRAGONLAND album 'Starfall'. EVERGREY revealed they would be filming a 9th October show in Gothenburg for a live DVD release.

EVERGREY members Henrik Danhage and Jonas Ekdahl revealed a raw Metal side project dubbed DEATH DESTRUCTION in union with ex-HAMMERFALL bassist Fredrik Larsson. Meantime, Michael Håkansson sessioned bass on new album recordings for THE PROJECT HATE. EVERGREY, promoting the March 2005 released 'A Night To Remember' album, acted as support to DREAM THEATER frontman JAMES LABRIE's European solo dates in April. The DVD of 'A Night To Remember' impressively topped the national Swedish charts. Henrik Danhage also made time to guest on the NOCTURNAL RITES album 'Grand Illusion'.

Again working with Inside Out Music the band entered the studio in late 2005 to craft an album with the noted production team of Sanken Sandquist and Stefan Glaumann. 'Monday Morning Apocalypse', issued in March 2006, entered the Swedish album charts at number 6. A brief run of homeland shows followed in April. The band's appearance at the Gelsenkirchen 'Rock Hard' festival in Germany during June was taped and subsequently the track 'She Speaks To The Dead' was included on the 'Rock Hard' magazine compilation album 'Rock Hard: Das Festival 2006'.

EVERGREY drafted former CRYSTAL AGE, DEATH DESTRUCTION, NONE, HAMMERFALL and SHOT INJECTION man Fredrik Larsson on bass in July. Ex-bassist Michael Håkansson duly joined ENGEL. Following an appearance at the 'Canarias MetalZone' festival on the Canary Islands on October 10th, the band toured throughout Europe, the UK and Scandinavia in October and November backed by AVATAR. The following month Henrik Danhage acted as stand in guitarist for IN FLAMES North American dates.

The band had the tracks 'Mark Of The Triangle' and 'Obedience' included on the 'ProgPower USA VIII' DVD compilation in 2007. That April bassist Fredrik Larsson opted out, re-joining HAMMERFALL. Larsson was duly replaced by former STRATOVARIUS musician Jari Kainulainen.

The album 'Torn', self-produced by Tom S. Englund and Jonas Ekdahl, arrived in stores in September 2008, hitting the national Swedish charts at no. 4. On 15th October EVERGREY, performing 'Torn' and 'Soaked', were the featured musical guests on the 'Nyhetsmorgon' programme on Sweden's TV4.
