HIGHBROW

Biography

HIGHBROW's debut single, 1978's 'A Loser', featured lead vocalist Eddy Malm who departed to join HEAVY LOAD. Despite only releasing two singles, Sweden's HIGHBROW underwent many line-up changes. Although the 1978 debut single featured lead vocalist Eddy Malm, he quit to join HEAVY LOAD and was replaced by Dave Nerge. The 1980 band that recorded the 'Love Light' single thus comprised of guitarists Christopher Ståhl and Michael Uppman, bassist Eeero Koivisto and drummer Mats 'Dalton' Dahlberg.

The following year bassist Marcel Jacob joined the fold after Koivisto departed to form RED BARON. HIGHBROW also added keyboard player Patrik Applegren. Ståhl was actually briefly ousted in favour of guitar maestro YNGWIE MALMSTEEN just prior to the band's split.

HIGHBROW was to eventually reform, but under the new name of POWER.

Whilst Patrik Applegren later joined TREAT, bassist Bo Andersson joined GLORY BELLS BAND. Ståhl went on from POWER and to play on the first TALISMAN album along with Jacob. Vocalist Dave Nerge was to release a solo album titled 'The Return of Mr. Nasty' under the band name DAVE NERGE's BULLDOG. Jacob's later work besides TALISMAN included a stint with a pre EUROPE prototype FORCE, BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB and HUMAN CLAY.
