Biography
Named after the JETHRO TULL classic, the debut album even includes a cover version of the track, Karlshamn based LOCOMOTIVE BREATH were assembled by ex-OVERDRIVE and OVERHEAT guitarist and noted Rock journalist Janne Stark. Bassist Ulf Kronsell is ex-BLUETOWN whilst drummer Mats Brandstorm is an erstwhile member of E-TYPE. Japanese variants of the 'Train Of Events' album issued by the Bareknuckle label included an extra exclusive track 'Captured'.
Stark's' connections in the industry obviously came into play as guest contributors to the album included guitarists Matthias Eklundh of FREAK KITCHEN, Calle Grimmark of NARNIA, Tommy Denander of RADIOACTIVE, Anders Altzarfeldt of ZELLO, his erstwhile OVERDRIVE colleague Kjell Jacobsson and even ROXETTE's Micke Andersson.
LOCOMOTIVE BREATH, utilising FAITH's Peter Svensson on drums, contributed their version of 'I Can't Feel Nothin' to the 2000 CAPTAIN BEYOND tribute album and 'Warriors' to the PHIL LYNOTT tribute 'Spirit Of The Black Rose'. Vocalist Herman Saming would join Progressive Rock band A.C.T.
LOCOMOTIVE BREATH returned to the scene during 2002 touting a fresh album 'Heavy Machinery'. An array of guest sessioneers included guitarist ROLAND GRAPOW of HELLOWEEN, Mattias Eklundh of FREAK KITCHEN and FATE, TOMMY DENANDER, PONTUS NORGREN and even Micke Andersson of ROXETTE. Initial pressings on the Record Heaven label would be restricted to just 1700 copies. The album would be re-launched in October of 2002 on the Sweden Rock label adding an extra track 'Can't Fake It', a rendition of the TARGET song.
June of 2003 saw the GROOVER and MANDRAKE ROOT credited Ted Wernersson taking over the drum position. Appearing at the 'Sweden Rock' festival that same month the band was joined for four songs by SAMSON vocalist Nicky Moore for four numbers. Moore and LOCOMOTIVE BREATH guitarist Janne Stark re-visited this union by recording a rendition of ELVIS PRESLEY's 'In The Ghetto' for inclusion on the childrens cancer fund raising 'Back, For The Future' album by SPEARFISH.
LOCOMOTIVE BREATH's debut 'Train Of Events' would be re-issued in mid 2003 by the Rivel label and re-packaged under the revised title 'Train Of New Events'. This version added three demo cuts in 'Reign Of Terror', 'Leaving The World Behind' and 'Sacred Alien', the EUROPE cover 'Scream Of Anger' and Japanese bonus cut 'Captured'. The band gave a donation of 'Into The Night' to the SWEET tribute album 'The Sweet According To Sweden' in 2004. In tribute to the late PAUL SAMSON, the band would back former SAMSON singer Nicky Moore at the 2004 'Sweden Rock' festival. Later that year Mattias Osbäck acted as guest backing vocalist and bassist on the debut UNCHAINED album.
In late 2004 a previously anonymous Blues Rock project dubbed FROM BEHIND and seeing Nicky Moore as lead singer was revealed to include three LOCOMOTIVE BREATH personnel in Janne Stark, Matthias Osbäck and Ted Wernersson. This new band recorded demos in December of 2004.
In mid 2005 Janne Stark unveiled an all new band project dubbed TEENAGE RAMPAGE, a collaboration with the Italian singer CHRIS CATENA Michael Gapys on second guitar, Marco Fedele on bass and Julius Giuliani on drums. Meantime, LOCOMOTIVE BREATH introduced new personnel in the form of UNCHAINED guitarist David Blome David and bassist Mats "Staa" Petersson, of DECEPTION and HEADLESS CROSS.
Stark would also feature prominently on the 2006 PLANET ALLIANCE album project mentored by guitarist Magnus Karlsson of LAST TRIBE, MIDNIGHT SUN and STARBREAKER and CLOUDSCAPE vocalist Mike Andersson. December 2nd 2006 saw Janne Stark forming up a one off "all-star" Metal band assembled for a 'Sweden Rock' concert at Stockholm's Nalen venue. Joining him for this performance, headed up by ACCEPT and U.D.O. singer Udo Dirkschneider, would be guitarists Ryan Roxie, of the ALICE COOPER band, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and ELECTRIC ANGELS, Oscar Dronjak of HAMMERFALL, Mia Coldheart of CRUCIFIED BARBARA, bass player Nalle PÃ¥hlsson of TREAT and ZAN CLAN plus EUROPE drummer Ian Haugland.
Janne Stark featured as a solo artist on the February 2009 compilation album 'Shredding All Over The World: Vol II'.
