The Mörrum, Blekinge based MOUNTAIN OF POWER endeavour was created by OVERDRIVE and LOCOMOTIVE BREATH guitarist Janne Stark and initiated by Joe Romagnola at Grooveyard Records as a homage to many of the lesser known, yet highly influential, second and third tier Hard Rock acts. As such, the album comprised renditions of MOXY's 'Out Of The Darkness', MONTROSE's 'Black Train', NEON ROSE's 'Love Rock', BUDGIE's 'In For The Kill', WIRELESS' 'One Of A Kind', STRAY DOG's 'Crazy', POINT BLANK's 'Uncle Ned', GODDO's 'Let That Lizard Loose', SAMSON's 'Tomorrow Or Yesterday', MOUNTAIN's 'Dreams Of Milk & Honey', CAPTAIN BEYOND's 'Fantasy', MARCUS' 'Black Magic', DERRINGER's 'Sitting By The Pool' and the original instrumental 'Mountain Of Power'.

Although Janne Stark recorded the bulk of guitar and bass tracks he would be aided by a multitude of session guests. Lending vocals would be Björn Lodin of KROKUS, RAINFALL, READY STEADY, BEDLAM, SIX FEET UNDER and BALTIMOORE on 'In For The Kill' and 'Love Rock', David Fremberg of ANDROMEDA and SPACE ODYSSEY on 'One Of A Kind', Roger Holegård of NEON ROSE on 'Dreams Of Milk And Honey', DAN SWANÖ of EDGE OF SANITY, SECOND SKY, PAN-THY-MONIUM, UNICORN and NIGHTINGALE on 'Out Of The Darkness', Pelle Saether of SCHIZOPHRENIC CIRCUS, GLORY, MACBETH, ZEELION and ZELLO on 'Fantasy', Mattias Osbäck of LOCOMOTIVE BREATH on 'Let That Lizard Loose' and 'Tomorrow Or Yesterday', Mike Andersson from CLOUDSCAPE, AUDIOVISION and PLANET ALLIANCE on 'Black Train', CHRIS CATENA of TEENAGE RAMPAGE on 'Black Magic' and Micke Andersson from NORD and ROXETTE on 'Crazy' and 'Sitting By The Pool'.

Guest guitarists included Jonas Hansson of SILVER MOUNTAIN and the JONAS HANSSON BAND, TOMMY DENANDER of RADIOACTIVE, A.T.C., RAINMAKER, DEACON STREET and PRISONER, Thomas Larsson from the GLENN HUGHES band and YEAH BOP STATION, Sven Cirnski of BAD HABIT, Lori Linstruth of STREAM OF PASSION and WARBRIDE, Emil Fredholm of PLANKTON and FORTUNE, Christian Neppenström from PLANKTON, Jocke Sandberg of ACES HIGH and Joe Romagnola of CHARACTER.

Handling the rhythm section would be bassists Nalle Påhlsson of TREAT and ZAN CLAN, Marten Andersson of LIZZY BORDEN, LEGACY and STARWOOD plus Björn Englén of BLEED whilst drums were delegated to Anders Johansson of HAMMERFALL and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN plus Peter Svensson from FAITH, OVERHEAT and MERCY. The album was released by Grooveyard Records in November 2006.

December 2nd 2006 saw Janne Stark forming up a one off "all-star" Metal band assembled for a 'Sweden Rock' concert at Stockholm's Nalen venue. Joining him for this performance, headed up by ACCEPT and U.D.O. singer Udo Dirkschneider, would be guitarists Ryan Roxie, of the ALICE COOPER band, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and ELECTRIC ANGELS, Oscar Dronjak of HAMMERFALL, Mia Coldheart of CRUCIFIED BARBARA, bass player Nalle Påhlsson of TREAT and ZAN CLAN plus EUROPE drummer Ian Haugland.

MOUNTAIN OF POWER played its first live show at the 'Sweden Rock' festival on June 6th 2007. The band roster for this gig comprised singer / guitarist Micke Andersson, guitarist Janne Star, bassist Mattias Osbäck and drummer Peter Svensson. News of a related release also emerged when it was learned MOUNTAIN OF POWER had also originally demoed a cover version of SIR LORD BALTIMORE's 'Woman Tamer'. This generated a collaboration between Stark and SIR LORD BALTIMORE's John Garner, which generated 'Woman Tamer 2007'. This track was featured on a compilation released by Sweden Rock in June 2007 under the title JOHN GARNER'S SIR LORD BALTIMORE. Live shows and further recording and writing collaborations were planned.

Janne Stark featured as a solo artist on the February 2009 compilation album 'Shredding All Over The World: Vol II'.

MOUNTAIN OF POWER returned in February 2010 with the 'Volume 2' set.
