Biography

Norrtelje based Black, Viking Metal band founded in November 1995. The inaugural line-up, originally billed as ANTIKRIST, comprised vocalist Sven Rosendal, ex-SCAB guitarist Mårten Matsson, second guitarist Jonas Almquist, bassist Pierre Wilhelmsson and drummer Erik Grawsiö. Within a month of operation the new band had taken on the MÅNEGARM title and debuted with the demo 'Vargaresa' in May 1996. However, that Summer the group enrolled an all new guitarist in Markus Andé and Jonny Wranning on lead vocals.

A second demo, 'Ur Nattvindar' recorded at the Sunlight Studios in February 1997, signalled Wranning's departure. Although the singer cut the vocals for the demo recordings Goggan took over the role shortly after. However, this union was brief and subsequently Viktor Hemgren became MÅNEGARM new vocalist. The response to 'Ur Nattvindar' led to a deal with the Dutch Displeased label for the May 1998 opus 'Nordstjärnans Tidsålder'. Studio guests included singer Ymer Mossige-Norheim and violinist Janne Liljequist.

MÅNEGARM returned to Sunlight Studios once more to cut a second album, 'Havets Vargar'. Not all ran smoothly though as the band lost the services of Hemgren and Grawsiö took over to complete the album sessions that December in Underground Studios. Ex-vocalist Victor Hemgren was also active with Death Metal band SORG and by 2000 had founded the Nu-Metal orientated BRAIN DAMAGE. MÅNEGARM issued their third album 'Dodsfard' ("Death Journey"), produced by Pelle Säther, in August 2003. A collection of early demos was compiled as the album 'Vargaresa - The Beginning' for November 2004 issue.

MÅNEGARM signed to Black Lodge Records in May 2006. That July Displeased Records issued MÅNEGARM's 'Urminnes Havd - The Forest Sessions' mini-album collaboration with Folk band TVÅ FISK OCH EN FLÄSK. On October 2nd the group utilised Studio Underground to cut their fifth album, the conceptual 'Vargstenen' ("The Wolfstone").
