Biography

Gävle based Death Metal act SORCERY, founded during 1986 by erstwhile members of ACID QUEEN lead vocalist Ola Malmström, guitarist Paul Johansson, bassist Magnus Karlsson-MÃ¥rd and drummer Patrik L. Johansson. The Johanssons and Karlsson-MÃ¥rd also held piror credits with CURSE. Second guitarist Peter Sjöberg was inducted in 1987 but left shortly after, subsequently joining MUTANT, RIVENDELL and THEORY IN PRACTICE in later years. As SORCERY, and newly installing Joakim Hansson on the drums, they released the 1988 'Ancient Creations' demo as their opening shot. Another demo, 1989's Unholy Crusade' preceded a self titled 1990 mini album. Second guitarist Peter Hedman was enrolled during 1991. The album 'Bloodchilling Tales' was delivered on the Underground label.

In October 1991 singer Ola Malmström and bassist Mikael Jansson forged a fresh outfit FEAR MY SOLITUDE, a productive Doom venture issuing a string of demos including the opening 'When Life Ends' in 1992, 'Morscretia' in 1993, 'Dancing With Solitariness' of 1994 and 1995's 'Melancholicology'. Drummer Paul Johansson, switching roles to guitar, later figured in an early line up of IN AETERNUM. Fredrik Nygren joined ASHRAM. The band fractured and rebuilt itself on numerous occasions in the years to follow. A 1993 line up comprised Ola Malmström, Paul Johansson, bassist Erik Olsson and a returned Patrik L. Johansson on drums. Olsson would then be usurped by former member Magnus Karlsson-MÃ¥rd. A 1997 variation of the band found SAPFEIRA bassist Linda Adamsson and THEORY IN PRACTICE, FORLORN, AUTUMN LEAVES, WINDWALKER and WITHERED BEAUTY man Daniel 'Vortex' Bryntse on the drums.

The German No Colour label re-released 'Bloodchilling Tales' in 1998 with two extra tracks. Fellow Swedes MARTYRUM paid tribute to SORCERY by covering their track 'Lucifer's Legions' on a 2003 demo, Ola Malmström providing guest vocals for this rendition. Malmström, Paul Johansson and Mikael Jansson subsequently founded Doom outfit OUTREMER in the Summer of 2002.
