Raw Death / Black Metal act conceived in Stockholm by guitarist Joel and drummer Mikael as SCYTHE during 1996. The following year guitarist Tommy Åberg, singer Glenn and bassist Stange would join the band for the demo cassette 'When The Night Betrays The Light'. In 1998 Stange was replaced by Robin and SCYTHE evolved into BLOODSHED for the next promotional tape, 1999's 'Laughter Of Destruction'.

BLOODSHED signed to the Code 666 label and released the 'Skullcrusher' EP in May 2001. Another track, the exclusive 'Kiss Of Cruelty', would find its way onto the compilation album 'Better Undead Than Alive'. BLOODSHED would land support gigs to FINNTROLL in Finland during December 2001 although drummer Mikael was unable to make the excursion. The group duly enrolled the temporary services of the much travelled Dennis Ekdahl of RAISE HELL, also known for his work with MÖRK GRYNING, MYSTIC PROPHECY and SINS OF OMISSION.

February 2002 was an eventful time for BLOODSHED. Besides starting the recording of their upcoming debut album 'Inhabitants Of Dis', Tommy had jumped in on tour with FINNTROLL on four dates in Holland and Belgium to replace vocalist Katla who was suffering from vocal problems. Around this same time the label Ledo Takas released a limited edition white 7" vinyl version of the 'Skullcrusher' EP.

The following year remained rather calm while the band promoted their debut album and began rehearsing new material. February 2004 saw the band begin recording their upcoming EP 'Blade Eleventh' at Necromorbus Studio. Around this time the band's line-up went through some major changes. Prior to the recordings guitarist Joel decided to leave the band, and shortly after Mikael and Glenn threw in the towel. Replacements were found in singer Erik Wall, guitarist Johannes Pedro and INSISION, PANDEMONIC, FLAGELLATION credited Marcus Jonsson on drums. BLOODSHED made their live debut with this new line-up at the Bands Battle Festival 2004 in Germany on May 14th.

Due to touring commitments with INSISION, Marcus Jonsson continued only as session drummer playing a few live shows under 2005. By July the band had attained the services of drummer Martin Karlsson from MYKORRHIZA, SIN, STAIRLAND. Further changes took place in September as Johannes Pedro was replaced by Mats Nehl on guitars. The band's 'Blade Eleventh' demos would subsequently be released as a 7" vinyl single through Horrorfiend Records. Cursed Division finally issued the much delayed CD EP of 'Blade Eleventh' in October 2005, adding the rare compilation track 'Kiss of Cruelty' plus 'Scythe - Blade Of Destruction' and 'Act Of Retaliation' from the 'Laughter Of Destruction' demo.

With a stable line-up once again, in January 2006 BLOODSHED would rehearse and prepare to record their new full-length album 'Stale Cold Cell Recital'. In late March the band entered Necromorbus Studios with producer Vidar Widgren. BLOODSHED parted ways with drummer Martin Karlsson in June, drafting ex-DECADENCE man Patrik Frögéli in September.

In early 2009 BLOODSHED evolved into REV 16:8. In this re-vamped guise the band, having let go Themgoroth in April, re-debut full-length debut, 'Grand Tidal Rave', was released on 28th June via Temple Of Darkness Records.
