Biography

Stockholm's INSISION debuted with the 1998 demo cassette 'Meant To Suffer'. The group had been founded the year previous by a union of erstwhile ILLDOOM and EMBALMER personnel citing an opening line-up of vocalist Johan Thornberg, guitarists Jonas Ahonen and Patrick Muhr and drummer Thomas Daun. Thornberg, Muhr and Daun had all been members of SACRIFICE BITCH. Before long Muhr exited and former DISFIGURED man Roger Johansson took his position.

With this line up INSISION cut the 1999 mini album 'The Dead Live On' for Heathendoom Music. However, further line up changes would witness the departure of both Ahonen and Thornberg. Replacements would soon be located in ex-AZATOTH and SUPERIOR Carl Birath and bassist Daniel Ekeroth, bassist of the renowned DELLAMORTE.

Gigging saw INSISION acting as opening act for HYPOCRISY, DARK FUNERAL, THE HAUNTED and MERCILESS. In March of 2001 the band drafted GENOCRUSH FEROX and CROMB guitarist Torbjörn "Toob" Brynedal, debuting as a quintet as support to Mexicans DISGORGE.

A further tape, 2001's 'Revelation Of The Sadogod', would include a cover version of DEATH's 'Zombie Ritual'. INSISION, utilising the tracks laid down in the 'Revelation Of The Sadogod' sessions, would share a split 10" single on Nuclear Winter Records with Greek act INVERACITY during 2002. A deal would be announced with the Earache Records subsidiary Wicked World for a forthcoming 2002 full length album 'Beneath The Folds Of Flesh'.

Immortal Sould Productions would re-issue 'The Dead Live On' in 2002 adding two bonus tracks including a cover of DEATH's 'Zombie Ritual'. British shows in late 2002 saw a batch of shows in December headlined by THE BERZERKER and including LABRAT and RED HARVEST. In March of 2004 the band entered Soundlab Studios with NASUM mainman Mieszko Talarczyk at the production helm for a new album going under the working title 'Revealed and Worshipped'.

With the album scheduled for July release the band announced plans to tour Europe in June on a heavyweight package billing comprising SUFFOCATION, DEMENTOR and DISGORGE. However, INSISION suffered a double blow in May of 2004 when drummer Thomas Daun departed and guitarist Toob Brynedal was forced to sit out the band's shows "for medical reasons out of our control." The band announced the 'Destruction of Finland' tour in October allied with GODHATE, DEATH DU JOUR and HATEFORM. Scandinavian dates as part of the 'Close Up' magazine sponsored 'Close Up Made Me Do it' tour had the band allied with TOTALT JÄVLA MȪRKER and THE HAUNTED in February of 2005. Australian shows in July saw support from INFERNAL METHOD.

INSISION announced they had parted ways with Wicked World Records in July 2006. The group entered Black Lounge studios in Avesta on October 16th to craft new album 'Ikon'. This album was signed over to Dental records in December.

In June 2009 Daniel Ekeroth joined IRON LAMB, a new "Filth Rock n' Roll' band formed by veterans Johan Wallin, of GENERAL SURGERY, SCURVY, BOMBSTRIKE, ex-REPUGNANT, Grga Lindström, ex-REPUGNANT and Thomas Daun, of DISMEMBER, ex-REPUGNANT, ex-INSISION.
