Biography

Ȫstersund based THE EQUINOX OV THE GODS (note spelling) emerged as far back as 1990 but would not come to public attention until the mid 90s. The initial duo comprised of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Fredrik Wallin and bass player Melker Ryymin. A later addition on guitar would be Stefan Dahlberg.

The opening demo session, entitled 'Songs From The Hill Of The Heartless Giant', was released 1992. It would be capitalised on by subsequent demos 'Watch The Shadows Dance' in 1993 and the following year's 'This Sombre Dreamland'.

These tapes led to the inclusion of THE EQUINOX OV THE GODS on the 1995 compilation CD 'Into The Cathacthonium' issued by the Greek Unisound label. The partnership with Unisound was fostered with the debut album release in 1996 'Images Of Forgotten Memories'. Vinyl variants included extra material in the form of remixes of tracks 'N.L.S.', 'Lord Of The Crossroads' and 'Resurrected'.

THE EQUINOX OV THE GODS line up now stood at at Wallin, Ryymin and guitarist Joakim Bylander. The 'Fruits And Flowers Of The Spectral Garden' album was released by Unisound in November 1997.

In August of 1998 Daniel Dlimi, guitarist of AEON and DIVINE DESECRATION, augmented the band sound as they switched to the Swedish Heathendoom Music label. 'Where Angels Dare Not Tread', produced by Thomas Ljungkvist, set for arrival in 1999. However, as of 2001 this album has still not seen the light of day.

EQUINOX OV THE GODS would also donate their version of 'Liber Sameth' to a DEATH SS tribute album issued by Black Widow Records.
