One of a myriad of Satanic Death Metal studio project acts put together by members of other bands on the side, BEWITCHED vocalist Vargher (real name Marcus Norman) is also a member of ANCIENT WISDOM, while guitarist Blackheim (real name Anders Nyström) is in both DIABOLICAL MASQUERADE and KATATONIA. The band, based in Umeå, set themselves apart from the pack by deliberately delivering 1980s Thrash Metal.

BEWITCHED, comprising Vargher, handling vocals, guitar and bass, Blackheim on guitar and drummer Reaper, debuted with the 1995 'Hellspell' demo. French imprint Osmose Productions released 'Diabolical Desecration' in February 1996, this set, self-funded over a three day recording session at UMT Studios in Umeå, seeing both Vargher and Blackheim dividing lead vocal duties. That June the group promoted the record by traversing across Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Holland partnered with ANCIENT RITES, SACRAMENTUM and ENTHRONED. Their 1996 EP 'Encyclopedia Of Evil' is made up of covers of bands such as BLACK WIDOW's 'Sacrifice', MERCYFUL FATE's 'Come To The Sabbath', VENOM's 'Warhead', CELTIC FROST's 'Circle Of The Tyrants' and BATHORY's 'Hellcult'. The band was credited on these tracks as Blackheim "Howling Guitars & Diabolical Fire Burnin", Vargher "Infernal Distortion & Throat Molestin", Warthyr "Holocaust Bass" and Reaper "Drums Of Doom".

For the follow up 'Pentagram Prayer' issued in November 1997, BEWITCHED evolved to see Vargher heading up a fresh band unit involving bassist Wrathyr and drummer Reaper. These tracks had been cut between the 18th and the 29th August 1997 at XL Studios. December witnessed another high profile live campaign, the 'World Domination' pitching BEWITCHED alongside a cast of DELLAMORTE, ENSLAVED, SWORDMASTER, DARK TRANQUILLITY and DEMONIAC.

The live 'Hell Comes To Essen', put out in December 1998 and closing out with a rendition of STEPPENWOLF's perennial 'Born To Be Wild', saw BEWITCHED adding guitarist Spider (a.k.a. Fredrik Degerström) of GUILLOTINE, AUBERON, NOCTURNAL RITES and NAGLFAR plus new drummer Stormlord. 'At The Gates Of Hell', again rendered at XL Studios, arrived in September 1999. An accompanying vinyl version was restricted to 1000 copies. BEWITCHED toured Mexico for the first time in December 2000. 'Rise Of The Antichrist' was ushered out in January 2002. By this stage Hellfire had taken over the secondary guitar position.

Regain Records issued the March 2004 EP 'Atrocities In A-Minor', recorded at Ballerina Audio. The 'Spiritual Warfare' album was delivered on October 30th 2006.
