GURD was formed in January 1994 by ex-POLTERGEIST guitarist V.O. Pulver. Guitarist Tommy B. was previously with EROTIC JESUS.

GURD toured as support to KREATOR, CORONER, SODOM, PRO-PAIN and BODY COUNT. Their work ethic paid off and by 1996 the band had signed to Century Media releasing third album 'D-Fect' and a remix offering the following year.

Further extensive touring ensued with the likes of STUCK MOJO, PRO-PAIN and LIFE OF AGONY prior to the recording of 1998's 'Down The Drain' with producer Tomas Skogsberg. More dates followed upon its release allied with PRO-PAIN. However, GURD underwent a drastic overhaul though with three quarters of the band decamping, Töbi and Philippe forging Alt-Rockers DISGROOVE, leaving Pulver alone to carry on the name. He duly reforged GURD pulling in former SWAMP TERRORISTS and BAUMANN personnel guitarist Bruno Spring and bassist Andrej, both also members of JERK. New face behind the drum kit for the 2000 album 'Bedlam' was ex-JERK and BAUMANN man Tschibu. GURD would also welcome onboard former UMOUNT bassist Frank Winkelmann in early 2002.

GURD signed to Denmark's Diehard Music for a 2003 album 'Encounter'. Closing a five year stint, guitarist Bruno Spring opted out during 2004. In November the band drafted ex-ACID, CRIONICS and EVEREVE man Pat as replacement.

Announced in mid 2005, the GURD credited trio of guitarist Spring, bassist Andrej and drummer Tschibu revealed side project THE ORDER, a union with PURE INC. singer Gianni Pontillo. Working with V.O. Pulver and Frank Winkelmann, this new band cut album recordings that June at Little Creek Studios in Gelterkinden. The 'Bang!' album, for which a comic strip promotional video was filmed for the title track, was signed to German imprint Dockyard 1 in May 2006.

European shows in 2007, commencing April 25th at the Munich Metropolis in Germany, saw the band supporting PRO-PAIN.

The album 'Your Drug Of Choice', released on 16th January 2009 via LC Records, featured guest appearances by Schmier, from DESTRUCTION, Freddy Rotter, of ZATOKREV, Mark Elliott, of THE FORCE, and Tommy B of UNDERGOD.
