Biography

VIKING SKULL, based in Corby, Northamptonshire, is the less than reverential trad Heavy Metal band assembled by RAGING SPEEDHORN members Gordon Morrison, Darren Smith and Frank Regan. Vocalist Roddy Stone and bassist Waldie also hold RAGING SPEEDHORN ties, being guitar tech and merchandiser respectively. Regan would subsequently be replaced by Joolz Cooper. Grand Union Recordings issued the debut 'Chapter One' EP in October 2003.

The band's 2005 debut album, 'Born In Hell', was produced by Iain Wetherall at Premier Studios, Corby. VIKING SKULL grabbed the opening slot to 2005 UK tour dates with TWISTED SISTER and ALICE COOPER but, despite being advertised as performing, were dumped from the tour blaming "silly old men being ego driven idiots". The band finally gained a US release for 'Born In Hell' in June 2006 on 456 Enterprize Records.

Both Darren Smith and Gordon Morrison exited in September to prioritise RAGING SPEEDHORN. That November VIKING SKULL recruited drummer Jess Margera, of CKY, and bassist Jules Cooper. The new look band travelled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to record the provisionally titled 'Chapter Two'.

The album, branded 'Doom, Gloom, Heartache & Whiskey', saw release in November 2008 through new UK imprint Powerage Records, A joint venture between Classic Rock magazine and Plastichead Music Distribution.
