Biography

One of Heavy Metal's enduring 'might have beens'. The all star DESPERADO, convened during 1989 by the larger than life former TWISTED SISTER vocalist DEE SNIDER, ex-GILLAN and OZZY OSBOURNE Irish guitarist BERNIE TORMÉ, bass player Mark Russell and IRON MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr, managed just one gig, in Birmingham, UK, and an unfortunately unreleased, Pete Coleman produced album set to be titled 'Bloodied, But Unbowed'.

Elektra Records, just weeks before the album launch, mysteriously scotched the entire project. BERNIE TORMÉ resumed his solo career. Snider and Russell stuck together to found WIDOWMAKER, with Snider's TWISTED SISTER colleague Joe Franco on drums and latter day SAVATAGE and MEGADETH (amongst many others) guitarist Al Pitrelli, taking DESPERADO songs with them. Further DESPERADO material would see the light of day on Snider's solo album 'Never Let The Bastards Grind You Down'.

The DESPERADO album leaked out in 1996 on the Destroyer label, most likely a semi official issue via one of the band members.
