Biography

Following KEITH EMERSON's stint as a solo artist and both GREG LAKE's and Carl Palmers stints with AOR sensation ASIA throughout the 80s moves were made to reform EMERSON LAKE & PALMER. The reformed line-up of ELP evolved minus Palmer but with ex-RAINBOW, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP and WHITESNAKE drummer COZY POWELL. The band started working together in 1985, with an eponymously titled album emerging during 1986. However, by the following year Palmer had rejoined for a fleeting reunion of the original line-up whilst Powell joined BLACK SABBATH. Emerson and Palmer then teamed up with American ex-HUSH vocalist ROBERT BERRY to form 3 and release the 1988 album 'To The Power Of Three'.

Powell was later to work with BLACK SABBATH, featuring on the 'Headless Cross', 'Tyr' and 'Forbidden' albums. Later work found the drummer alongside erstwhile FLEETWOOD MAC guitarist PETER GREEN and with Swedish axe maestro YNGWIE MALMSTEEN on his 1997 'Facing The Animal' album. The drummer was participating in a proposed 1998 RAINBOW reformation before his untimely death in a car accident.
