Biography

The Mop topped guitarist Graham Oliver, to the surprise of many fans, broke away from the Hard Rock institution SAXON in the mid 90's after more than two decades as a lynchpin founder member. Although a quietly spoken individual Oliver had been responsible for some of SAXON's mightiest riffs and his sudden departure left the band reeling.

Reforging links with other ex SAXON personnel bassist Steve 'Dobby' Dawson and drummer Pete Gill, the latter also a MOTÖRHEAD veteran, he founded SON OF A BITCH fronted by American motormouth and ex THUNDERHEAD frontman Ted Bullitt. Years of confusion for SAXON fans then followed as both parties laid claim to the SAXON title. As the lawyers got their teeth into the dispute at the turn of the millenium Oliver's unit went on the road as OLIVER / DAWSON SAXON.

During down periods in his main act's activities Oliver cut his debut solo album for Angel Air in 2001 'End Of An Era'. The record, which sees a version of JIMI HENDRIX's 'Sippin' Wine', sees contributions from both Gill and Dawson as well as Oliver's son Paul, ex HERITAGE, STATETROOPER, USI and SAXON bassist Paul 'Fasker' Johnson, Phil Hendriks of the STIFFS and Scott Howitt of BULLRUSH.

A single, 'Born To Rock n' Roll', was lifted from the album released to coincide with the anniversary of the death of JIMI HENDRIX.

2006 summer live work in Europe found GRAHAM OLIVER uniting with Blues Rock outfit TWIN DRAGONS, a union with Italian guitarist ANDREA BRAIDO, Nathaniel Peterson of SAVOY BROWN, ex-GILLAN bassist John McCoy and erstwhile SAXON colleague Pete Gill on drums.
