Biography
An Anglo-Dutch act, HAMMERHEAD scored an impressive major label deal with EMI Records and were amongst the ports of call for British vocalist IAN PARRY, who superseded the band's original singer, ex PICTURE vocalist Schmoulik Avigal. At the time of his recruitment Parry already had to his credits stints with THE NEXT and MONO PACIFIC, a band that was to be the first musical venture of Zak Starkey, the drummer son of former BEATLES legend Ringo Starr. Parry was joined in HAMMERHEAD by bassist and fellow Brit Ian Bishop , who had previously been a member of Dutch outfit THE WILD.
Following the band's debut EP a full length album was recorded as HAMMERHEAD drafted in former RAINBOW keyboard player David Rosentahl and Van Der Wattering lost his place to the American Joe Franco, a man who had made his mark with TWISTED SISTER and WIDOWMAKER.
However, intended to be titled 'Heart Made Of Steel' the album surpassed all expected budgets and to this day remains unreleased.
Parry journeyed through many bands post HAMMERHEAD, returning to his homeland to briefly front AOR act AIRRACE before returning to Holland to sing for PERFECT STRANGER. This act was founded by Parry along with ex VANDENBURG drummer Jos Zoomer, PICTURE keyboard player Ronald De Grauw, HAMMERHEAD's Wilko Van Beek and bassist Barend Courbois, the latter going on to join a reunited VENGEANCE.
Parry later accepted an offer to join VENGEANCE for their 'The 'Last Teardrop' album as well as recording two albums for MISHA CALVIN and by 1997 was fronting Progressive rockers ELEGY and enjoying European success with a stream of solo albums. .
