Biography

Although starting his singing career with British act MONO PACIFIC, a band that featured none other than BEATLES drummer Ringo Starr's son Zak on drums, Parry's name first became recognized as vocalist for the multi-national act HAMMERHEAD. Comprising of Parry as lead vocalist, former RAINBOW keyboard player David Rosenthal, TWISTED SISTER and WIDOWMAKER drummer Joe Franco, fellow Brit bassist Ian Bishop and Dutch guitarist Wilko Van Beek, HAMMERHEAD scored a deal with major label EMI. A now extremely sought after EP was issued, but a recorded full-length album still remains in the vaults.

With HAMMERHEAD defunct Parry teamed up with AIRRACE, fronting the AORsters for over a year before returning to Holland to forge PERFECT STRANGERS with erstwhile VANDENBURG drummer Jos Zoomer.

PERFECT STRANGERS split before a deal could be raised and Parry was quick to take up an offer from VENGEANCE to record 1992's 'The Last Teardrop'. With the demise of VENGEANCE in 1994 following the 'The Last Of The Fallen Heroes' album, Parry set about his solo career.

1993's 'Symphony Of Dreams' caught strong reviews, leading to it's follow up 'Artistic License'. This record was a more diverse musical affair that benefited from GOREFEST's Rene Merkelbach on keyboards and former HELLOISE, THRENODY and HIGHWAY CHILE drummer Ernst Van Ee. Between his own recordings Parry also made time to lend his talents to MISHA CALVIN's 'Evolution' album.

Zero Corporation released both albums in Japan as Parry took to a songwriting collaboration with BLACK SABBATH singer TONY MARTIN for Calvin's 'Evolution II' album.

Parry's third solo effort, 'Thru' The Looking Glass', once more utilized the services of Van Ee and Merkelbach together with VENEZUALA guitarist Don Van Slunteren. Parry's ex-VENGEANCE colleague guitarist Arjen Lucasson also makes a guest appearance, as does Calvin.

Parry spent 1995 working in conjunction with Lucasson once more for the guitarist's AYREON project album before joining Progressive Rock outfit ELEGY, having recorded so far 1996's 'Primal Instinct' and 1997's State Of Mind' albums.

The 1999 'Consortium' project featured French guitarist PATRICK RONDAT, a solo star in his own right but by then a co-member of ELEGY, along with Lucasson. Parry would donate a version of 'Immigrant Song' to a LED ZEPPELIN tribute assembled by the Spanish Locomotive Music label, the track featuring sessions from HALFORD guitarist MIKE CHLASCIAK. It would not be the only such endeavour on the agenda, as Parry participated in ABYDOS, a Progressive Rock assembly put together by producer Stefan Glas also including vocalist Andy Kuntz and drummer Andreas Lill of VANDEN PLAS and SHAMAN singer Andre Matos.

Late 2004 found Parry back in the studio crafting a fourth solo opus, working with guitarist Mario Zapata, CONSORTIUM PROJECT bassist Robert Finan and KAMELOT drummer Casey Grillo. Subsequent tracks would be laid down in mid 2005 at Braineye studios in Veeningen, Holland utilising guitarist Alfred 'The Beast' van der Zwam and former WITHIN TEMPTATION drummer Ivar de Graaf.

As a point of interest Parry is not the singer of the same name who sang on the 1982 'Power' album by British act EZY RIDER.
