A distinctly British Rock outfit. ATOM GOD, based in London, was conceived upon the demise of INNER CITY UNIT in the spring of 1988. The band's initial line-up comprised frontman Trev Toms, ex-FASTWAY drummer Steve Clark, and bassist Hiro Sasaki and guitarist Billy Liesegang. Doug Smith's GWR Records issued the 'Wow' album in 1989. For the second album, 'History Re-Written', ATOM GOD replaced Sasaki with the DAMNED and TANK veteran bassist Algy Ward. A short British club tour was planned, but wound up being shelved and the band split.

Ward formed WARHEAD with ex-MOTȪRHEAD guitarist WURZEL and WARFARE vocalist / drummer Evo for an eponymous 1995 album before rejoining THE DAMNED in 1995. The bassist then wound up getting back into action with TANK, touring Germany in 1997 with HAMMERFALL and RAVEN. Both Ward and Liesegang re-united in 1997 as part of the Death Metal project act NECROPOLIS.
