Biography

Relocating to California following his high profile tenure in DIO, Irish guitarist VIVIAN CAMPBELL pursued his RIVERDOGS band project with vocalist / bassist ROB LAMOTHE. The studio recordings included keyboards from Kevin Gilbert and drums from Allen De Silva and JOURNEY's Mike Baird. In 1992 BADLANDS made an attempt to poach Lamothe away from the band but the singer resisted the offer. RIVERDOGS added drummer Ronnie Ciago for live work and the resulting 1993 'Absolutely Live' record.

Campbell founded AOR act SHADOWKING in 1991 with an all star line-up fronted by FOREIGNER's LOU GRAMM. Lamothe recorded a solo album, 'Gravity', that was eventually released in early 1997. A second effort appeared a year later. Former SHARK ISLAND guitarist Spencer Sercombe also served a term with the band. Campbell climbed back into the major league with DEF LEPPARD.

ROB LAMOTHE went solo issuing a string of well received albums. Ciago and Sercombe would join ex-BLACK SABBATH drummer BILL WARD's solo band for the 1997 album 'When The Bough Breaks'.

During mid 2001 word arrived that Lamothe, Campbell, Danzie and Brophy had got together to work on new music and a new RIVERDOGS outing. However, Lamothe then subsequently busied himself with further solo work. By October of 2002 it seemed as though the band, including Vivian Campbell, had re-commenced song writing activities.

Canadian band KING KARMA would cover 'Revolution Man' from the 1993 'Bone' album on their November 2003 eponymous debut. The RIVERDOGS, with guitarist Vivian Campbell back in tow, made a return with US live dates in August of 2004. New studio material would be worked upon during the Summer months for a brand new album. VIVIAN CAMPBELL released his debut solo album, 'Two Sides Of If', in September 2005.
