Biography
English born Robert Hart came to prominence as the frontman for AOR outfit the DISTANCE, a band put together by the ex-CHIC and POWERSTATION rhythm section of Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson. Gaining a deal from Atlantic Records, Hart's debut solo offering, 1989's 'Cries And Whispers', features performances from guitarist MICHAEL LANDAU and ex-ARCANGEL and DISTANCE keyboard player Jeff Bova.
Robert's second album, the eponymously titled Hollywood issued release, was recorded at Livingstone Studios, Marcus Studios, The Rockhouse and Jacobs Studios, being produced by respected singer / songwriter and ex-ARGENT man RUSS BALLARD. Ballard also co-wrote much of the material. Guest musicians included former THE NEXT, MONOPACIFIC, NIGHTFLY, THE ROCK, ASHTON and ICE drummer Zak Starkey, son of ex-THE BEATLES drummer Ringo Starr, THUNDER bassist Chris Childs, guitarists Hywell Maggs and Paul Stacy plus BAD COMPANY guitarist Dave Colwell.
Hart joined BAD COMPANY in 1995, replacing BRIAN HOWE for the 'Company Of Strangers' and 'Stories Told And Untold' albums. The late 90's found Hart fronting COMPANY OF SNAKES. Hart would join DEEP PURPLE keyboard player DON AIREY for a rare solo gig at The Lochgelly Centre Theatre, Fife in Scotland on 14th January 2005. Later that year the singer announced the formation of THE JONES GANG, a high profile band union with drummer Kenny Jones of THE WHO, SMALL FACES and THE LAW along with FOREIGNER, BAD COMPANY and PETER FRAMPTON band bassist Rick Wills. Lead single from the resulting album 'Any Day Now' would be 'Angel', a remake from Hart's 1992 album.
