Biography

Following his departure from IRON MAIDEN, vocalist PAUL DIANNO had quickly formed LONEWOLF with a backing band made up of ex-members of MINAS TIRITH, which proved to be a surprisingly a much more commercial AOR proposition than IRON MAIDEN. The LONEWOLF band only got together a few London shows, including supporting SAD CAFE at the Marquee before Paul left the band to team up with SHANGHAI TYGER in 1983.

This new venture saw Dianno matched to a band comprising guitarists Darren Aldridge and Tony Higgs, ex-DEEP MACHINE man Andy Wrighton on bass and original IRON MAIDEN drummer Ron Rebel. The project would be short-lived, with no commercial product being issued, and in 1984 Dianno signed an entirely new band, entitled simply DIANNO, to King Records in Japan and recorded the bizarrely named 'Two Swimmers And A Bag Of Jockeys' album. The singer issued a whole swathe of albums in successive years bearing the brands PAUL DIANNO, DIANNO, BATTLEZONE and KILLERS.

Post SHANGHAI TYGER Wrighton journeyed on to TOKYO BLADE and SHOGUN.
