Biography

Jazz Rock ensemble from London with a fluid line up made up of esteemed veteran Rock musicians and seasoned session players. NETWORK is centred upon former FASTWAY drummer Steve Clark.

The band's inaugural 1986 line up found Clark joined by ALLAN HOLDSWORTH guitarist Steve Topping, DAVID CROSS BAND guitarist Tim Crowther, RPM bassist Paul Rogers, keyboard player Pete Jacobsen and trumpeteer Ted Emmet of 64 SPOONS and LOOSE TUBES. This NETWORK roster cut the debut album 'The Bible Says' with a guesting ex KING CRIMSON man David Cross.

The 'Corroded Path' album saw BLACK SABBATH session bassist Laurence Cottle on board. Clarke then took time out to quite bizarrely create a 'Black Metal supergroup' titled NECROPOLIS working in collusion with ex MOTȪRHEAD and FASTWAY guitarist FAST EDDIE CLARKE and ex TANK and DAMNED bassist Algy Ward. The NETWORK's Tim Crowther and ASIA guitarist KEITH MORE also put in appearances on the album. It would take four years for the album to finally emerge.

Reactivating NETWORK Clarke enrolled Algy Ward for the 1993 album 'Refusal To Comply'. The follow up 'Precisely The Opposite' had ex SOFT MACHINE four stringer Hugh Hopper in the bass position. For live work Jeff Gascoyne took the role.

Crowther decamped and was superseded by erstwhile ASIA man KEITH MORE. Algy Ward also made a return for the 'L.N.C.' record which boasted keyboard work from former MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA guru Jan Hammer.

NETWORK's 'Highly Committed Media Players' album saw a roll call of Clarke, Jacobsen, Emmet, former PARADOX bassist Wolfgang Scheid and ELEVENTH HOUR guitarist Larry Coryell.
