Biography

PAGAN ALTAR are a true underground act in every sense of the word. Although this South Eastern Doom band failed to secure either label interest or media coverage during the 80s, yet were thought highly enough of to have bootlegs widely circulated. The group had been created in 1978 by the Jones siblings vocalist Terry and guitarist Alan, both erstwhile HYDRA members. Starting life a quintet PAGAN ALTAR went through numerous personnel during their formative years including bassist Glenn Robinson and drummer Mark Elliott. Bassist Trevor Porthh enrolled in 1982. On drums would be the Israeli born John Mizrahi, a man having lost a finger whilst on active service in his homeland. As Mizrahi was replaced by Brian Cobbold the band began to stall and Alan Jones would join XYZ in the mid 80s.

In preperation for a new album 'Mythical And Magical', PAGAN ALTAR included a brand new track, entitled 'Flight Of The Witch Queen', to the 2004 'Total Metal Attack' NWoBHM era compilation album issued through Old School Records.
