Biography

Erstwhile NIGHTWING, BRONZ and GTR vocalist Max Bacon had first made his mark back in 1982 when his band at the time, MOBY DICK had released a single through the Ebony label. Bacon was found by the highly rated AOR act NIGHTWING in bizarre circumstances. On the lookout for a singer, guitarist Alec Johnson spotted Bacon delivering his milk every day and suggested he audition for the band. Leaving his job as a milkman behind, Bacon joined to take over lead vocal duties on the 1983 'Stand And Be Counted' album. Bacon cut one more record with the band before opting out to join BRONZ, recording one album.

Following the demise of GTR Max involved himself in the PHENOMENA project and later worked with MIKE OLDFIELD on the man's 'Islands' and 'Earthmoving' albums in 1987 and 1989 respectively. Between bouts of work with MIKE OLDFIELD, Bacon worked on a proposed project with GEOFF DOWNES of ASIA titled RAIN. Although this act never got beyond the studio tracks culled from these sessions would later surface as part of the ASIA 'Archiva' collection in 1996.

After an interlude of seven years Bacon re-emerged with his debut solo effort, an album released by leading AOR specialist label Now And Then. 'The Higher You Climb' was recorded with ASIA's GEOFF DOWNES on keyboards, erstwhile SAXON man Nigel Glockler on drums, ex-THIN LIZZY guitarist Scott Gorham and Bacon's former GTR colleagues; STEVE HACKETT, STEVE HOWE, drummer Jonathon Mover and bassist Phil Spalding.

Bacon left the music businnes to become owner of the Farmers Arms pub in Rudheath. However, a second album, entitled 'From The Banks Of The River Irwell', followed in 2002.
