Biography
A Birmingham based outfit. At the time their brand of light Country Rock piqued curiosity due to the ever present steam engine imagery but in later years SUNDANCE came to attention due to the inclusion of a pre JUDAS PRIEST drummer Alan 'Skip' Moore. His early history on the Birmingham club scene included terms of duty alongside guitarist / bassist Nick Jones with a string of early sixties outfits THE YOUNG CASUALS, THE OTHER LOT, THE OUTER LIGHT, GABRIEL OAK and GLAD STALLION. Antecedent to JUDAS PRIEST, Moore had been involved with TENDENCY JONES and PENDULUM. The sticksman had actually left JUDAS PRIEST in 1972 to join SUNDANCE for their 'Rain, Steam, Speed' album. This record generated healthy sales and even put a single, 'Coming Down', into the British charts.
However, Moore upped and left, before returning to the up and coming Metal legends for recording of their 1976 sophomore classic 'Sad Wings Of Destiny'. Moore, also having served a tenure with ZENDA JACKS STORMBRINGER, subsequently became a truck driver. SUNDANCE guitarist John Lynham teamed up with various Pop acts prior to uniting with Celtic band QUILL.
SUNDANCE reunited in 1994 citing a line-up comprising John Lynham, PARKER'S ALIBI vocalist / bassist Chris Lomas, THE TIMEWASTERS and THE MIGHTY HOUSEROCKERS pianist Fred Skidmore and drummer Heath Light of THE MIGHTY HOUSEROCKERS.
