Nu-Metal act founded in Huntington Beach, California 1994. (HED) PLANET EARTH's initial outings go under the band title (HED) P.E. The 'P.E.' originally standing for 'Planet Evolutionary' whilst the (HED) part of the name is supposed to signify "Deep from in your mind". The band's singer M.C.U.D. also goes under his real name of Jahred Shane.Other founders included guitarist Wes Geer ('Wesstyle'), second guitarist Chad Benekos ('Chizad'), bassist Mawk (Mark Young), drummer B.C. Vaught and DJ Product © 1969. Billed as HED the group self-financed 'Church Of Realities' EP in 1995. However, legal pressures forced the name change to (HED)P.E.

Having signed to Jive Records, the debut August 1997 album '(HED)P.E.' garnered much praiseworthy press attention but worldwide only sold a few hundred thousand copies, the band being swamped by the meteoric rise to multi platinum status of some of their similar sounding contemporaries. (HED)P.E.'s backing singer Tilo later opted out to join Tommy Lee's METHOD'S OF MAYHEM.

(HED)P.E contributed their version of 'Sabbra Cadabra' to the 2000 BLACK SABBATH tribute album 'Nativity In Black II'. On the live front (HED)P.E guested for SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and also supported MÖTLEY CRÜE to unfavourable reactions.

The 'Broke' album, issued in August 2000 and peaking at no. 63 on the national US Billboard chart, sees guest appearances from KITTIE's Morgan Lander and Serj Tankian of SYSTEM OF A DOWN on the song 'Feel Good' The single 'Bartender' scored heavy radio play. The band toured America in 2000 as support to SLIPKNOT then as part of the 'Tattoo The Earth' festival bill prior to shows with PAPA ROACH. M.C.U.D. was arrested in late 2000 for possession of marijuana in Waterbury, Connecticut but released on bail.

January of 2001 found (HED) P.E. supporting PAPA ROACH for shows in Britain, Europe and Scandinavia. American dates kicking off on April 11th in Corpus Christi, Texas had the band sharing stages with SPIKE 1000, NONPOINT and SYSTEMATIC as a package billing.

The band, who added erstwhile AMEN guitarist Sonny Mayo to the ranks, would donate their cover of the JIMI HENDRIX classic 'Crosstown Traffic' to the NASCAR sponsored 'Crank It Up' compilation in 2002.That year it was learned ex-guitarist Chad Benekos had scored a deal with his new act HUMANLAB.

Third album 'Blackout', produced by Mike Bradford, emerged in March 2003, reaching no. 33 on the US charts and no. 102 in the UK. Unfortunately the group lost their Jive Records deal toward the close of 2003 and suffered a further blow with the disembarkation of both guitarists Wes Greer and Sonny Mayo and drummer Ben 'B.C.' Vaught. The remaining trio of Jahred, bassist Mark Young and Deejay Product issued a defiant press statement announcing not only the rapid fire recruitment of new members but a promise of a much harder edged future direction.Enrolling on drums was 'Tiny Bubz', better known as Anthony Biuso of RHINO BUCKET.

Gigs during February of 2004 found DRY KILL LOGIC as support. (HED) P.E. signed to Koch International Records in June of 2004. The band also announced the enlistment of former OTEP drummer Moke (a.k.a. Mark Bistany), a veteran of acts such as OTEP and 80's Heavy Metal band TYRUS, BONE ANGEL, IMPELLITERRI and CELLOPHANE. Meantime, ex-drummer BC joined BREAKING BENJAMIN. (HED) P.E. announced 'Raise Hell' as a new album title but by November had changed this to 'Only In Amerika'. That same month the band embarked upon US dates partnered with DROWNING POOL. 'Only In Amerika' arrived in February 2005 but witnessed a downturn in popularity, only achieving a no. 186 placing on the US charts.

The band, having switched labels to Suburban Noize, toured the USA in February 2006 with support from KOTTONMOUTH KINGS then hooked up with WICKED WISDOM, STRAPT and MOWER for gigs throughout May and June.That month the album 'Back 2 Base X', signifying a move towards a rawer, Punkier sound, hit stores, reaching no. 154 on the Billboard listings. To coincide, former label Jive Records issued the compilation 'The Best Of (Hed) Planet Earth'.

(HED) P.E. tackled the European touring circuit in October. The group formed up the 'Zippo Hot' tour of the USA alongside PAPA ROACH, BULLETS AND OCTANE and STEALING DECEMBER throughout November and December.

In 2007 (HED)PE was confirmed as the headliner of the first annual 'Skratch N' Sniff Radio' tour kicking off May 2nd in Albuquerque, New Mexico, backed by AUTHORITY ZERO, MOWER, DANNY DIABLO and the VILLEBILLIES. Their next album offering, 'Insomnia', was delivered in July, hitting no. 138 on the US national charts.

A live album, 'The D.I.Y. Guys', saw release in July 2008. (HED)P.E. united with MUSHROOMHEAD for a Jägermeister sponsored US tour commencing 11th August 2009 at Pop's in Sauget, Illinois and wrapping up in Jacksonville, North Carolina on 13th September.
