Biography
A late 70s Los Angeles Hard Rock outfit that eschewed the Glam notions of the time and pursued an earthier back to basics English style of Rocking. BADAXE made quite a name for themselves on the California club circuit and in their time would open for visiting artists such as JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK OAK ARKANSAS and STARZ. The band was centred upon the industrious bassist Dana Strum with an original line up finding guitarist David Carruth, drummer Steve Ward and Toronto born singer Stacey Morland at the forefront. Morland would relinquish his position to Phoenix native Bob Geadreau but he in turn would be ousted in favour of Louie Merlino.
BADAXE would issue the now rare 7" single 'Cry For Me' for the Canadian Earth Breeze label in 1978. The group would also get in on the soundtrack to the Emilio Estevez movie '17 & Going Nowhere'.
BADAXE would fold when Strum was invited to work up a new band with OZZY OSBOURNE. It would actually be Strum who engineered Osbourne's union with the renowned Randy Rhoads. Meantime Merlino busied himself with BANG BANG whilst Carruth teamed up with the Betsy led bondage Metal act BITCH.
When Osbourne returned to the UK Strum forged MODERN DESIGN resuming his previous alliance with Merlino. The bassist's later ports of call included the high profile VINNIE VINCENT INVASION and the success of platinum status Hard Rockers SLAUGHTER.
