Biography

BLACKTHORNE was a 'Supergroup' put together by ex-BALANCE and MEAT LOAF guitarist Bob Kulick following the split of his previous band SKULL. The line-up marked the return to recording of former RAINBOW, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP and ALCATRAZZ vocalist GRAHAM BONNET It would also feature erstwhile NEW ENGLAND and ALCATRAZZ keyboard player Jimmy Waldo, former QUIET RIOT, GIUFFRIA and HOUSE OF LORDS bassist Chuck Wright. Completing the line up was ex-HUGHES/THRALL and QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali, who replaced original skinsman, ex-ANTHRAX and WHITE LION drummer Greg D'Angelo.

The 1993 album, recorded at at Soundchamber Studios in North Hollywood and which included a re-work of RAINBOW's 'All Night Long', featured guest outings from Bob's brother Bruce (of KISS) on guitar plus backing vocal cameos from AUTOGRAPH's Steve Plunkett and former SACRED CHILD vocalist Astrid Young. The track 'Hard Feelings' is a co-write with KEEL guitarist MARK FERRARI.

Former SPEEDWAY BOULEVARD and BALANCE man Dennis St. James gets a co-writing credit on the track 'Breaking The Chains'. Banali would later rejoin QUIET RIOT for a series of albums as Bonnet put in numerous sessions for FORCEFIELD before resurrecting his solo career with the 1997 album 'Underground'.
