Unveiled in mid 2006, DIVINE HERESY, a Los Angeles based band, comprised an esteemed cast of experienced Metal players involving VEXT singer Tommy Cummings, the FEAR FACTORY, BRUJERIA and ASESINO credited guitarist Dino Cazares alongside Tim Yeung, of VITAL REMAINS and HATE ETERNAL, on drums. The act made its live debut on September 2nd 2006 at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California prior to ASESINO's performance as part of Cazares' birthday celebrations. DECREPIT BIRTH's Risha Eryavec filled in on bass for this set. In April the band contracted with Century Media Records for the North American territory and Roadrunner for Europe.

DIVINE HERESY's debut album, 'Bleed the Fifth', was released in August 2007, selling more than 20,000 copies in the United States over a nine month period. The album was released in Japan with an exclusive bonus track, 'Purity Defiled'.

Tommy Cummings opted out in April 2008. DIVINE HERESY tapped Jake Veredika, former lead singer of the Maryland based metal band PERIPHERY, as a temporary replacement. Veredika played his first show with DIVINE HERESY on Friday, May 9th at the The Fillmore in Philadelphia. The band stated that "while a possibility exists that Veredika will join DIVINE HERESY as the permanent replacement for Cummings", no decision would be made until after the 'Tyranny And Bloodshred 2008' North American tour with ARCH ENEMY, DARK TRANQUILLITY and FIREWIND, which closed during May.

That August the band, having drafted new frontman Travis Neal of PERSQUAREINCH and PUSHED repute, performed dates in South America and Mexico including Buenos Aires in Argentina, Santiago in Chile, Sao Paulo in Brazil and Mexican concerts in Monterrey, Torreon Coahuila, Guadalajara and Mexico City.

April 2009 brought in news that a brand new project had been formed featuring Dino Cazares and his erstwhile FEAR FACTORY colleague Burton C. Bell with further suggestions pointing towards the inclusion of bassist Byron Stroud, another FEAR FACTORY veteran, and drummer Gene Hoglan, of DETHKLOK, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DARK ANGEL, DEATH and TESTAMENT.
