Biography
The Los Angeles based Metal gods HAWK made more of an impact for their lavish advertising in guitar magazines, extolling the virtues of the exceptionally hirsute main man Doug Marks, than any real musical achievements. Quite paradoxically HAWK did however create a legacy for themselves, although not for their most promoted member, as the album featured drummer Matt Sorum who later made his mark with GUNS N' ROSES and THE CULT. A former drummer, Scott Travis, found fame with British Metal institution JUDAS PRIEST on their 1991 album 'Painkiller' after a spell with RACER X. Travis later journeyed through Rob Halford's FIGHT before being re-instated into JUDAS PRIEST once more.
HAWK vocalist David Fefolt, formerly a member of Pittsburgh Heavy Metal band VALHALLA, would later appear on ALEX MASI's 1988 album 'Downtown Dreamers'. A HAWK bassist, Lonnie Miller, subsequently became Lonnie Vincent, making his mark with the BULLETBOYS and KING KOBRA.
Keyboards on the record (which was mostly available only through mail order from advertisments in the likes of 'Hit Parader' magazine) were supplied by Dave Tolley and Steve Ayola. The album was re-issued in 2001 by Metal Mayhem Music. In April 2005 it was revealed that Fefolt had fired up a new band endeavour in collaboration with MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP guitarist/keyboard player Wayne Findlay and the WARLORD and FATES WARNING credited drummer Mark Zonder.
